REFRESHER TRAINING ON NEW BCA COURSES SHAHEED Smarak College

The Research Management Cell (RMC), Shaheed Smarak College with financial support from the University Grants Commission (UGC), Nepal organized the Refresher Training on New BCA Course from 2083 Ashar 15 to 17 at Shaheed Smarak College. This three-day faculty development programmed aimed to enhance the academic and professional skills of faculty members for implementation of the new revised Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) course in Tribhuvan University (TU). The training, which was held on a daily basis from 7:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M., involved faculty members from the BCA and Humanities departments to update their understanding with the new curriculum and modern teaching methods.

The new TU BCA syllabus incorporates major changes in the curriculum, with the introduction of new technologies, hands-on learning, project-based education, and outcome-based assessment. The changes demand that faculty members use modern educational approaches, enhance the quality of lab teaching and properly carry out the new assessment system to guarantee the quality of teaching and learning. To address these changes, Shaheed Smarak College arranged this refresher training, to keep the faculty members up-to-date with the changes to the curriculum, and to help them develop the skills they need to provide quality, industry-relevant computing education.

The training consisted of various expert guided sessions on the updated BCA curriculum, digital pedagogy, course-wise teaching methodologies, lab management, project management, assessment and examination policies and industry expectations. Participants learned about effective implementation of the curriculum and shared their experiences and best practices through participatory discussions and knowledge sharing sessions.

There were 5 faculty members attended the program. Mr. Basant Kumar Poudel, Principal of Shaheed Smarak College, chaired the first session and Mr. Raju Bhat, Coordinator of the Research Management Cell, coordinated the program. Faculty members took part actively in the training and the input of experienced resource persons helped to make the training successful.

Overall, the Refresher Training on New BCA Course was an important institutional effort to build capacity of the faculty to implement the revised TU BCA curriculum. The programmed strengthened the college's dedication to lifelong learning, academic excellence, and quality improvement efforts, making a positive impact on the provision of contemporary, holistic and industry-oriented BCA education programmed.
